A seat at the table

On the floor of the house where we’re always welcome

On the land that we have always called home

On the soil where our foremothers were birthed

On the earth where our inheritance awaits

A seat at the table

On which we lay the food spiced by our lives and experiences

On which we serve the juice we squeezed from our joys and our pains

On which we deliberate the future of the children we see in our dreams

On which we nourish the deep bellies of our hearts and spirits

A seat at the table

Round which all sisters hold hands to pray in different tongues

Where each sister is equal and equally accepted as family.
